Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word."

Parents need to provide the child’s Certificate of Birth. The certificate issued by the hospital is not valid for baptism (this is not considered to be a government document).
If the sponsors (godparents) are married, they will need to provide a copy of their certificate of marriage issued by the Church and not the marriage license.
Parents need bear in mind that the information on the certificate of baptism reflects that on the birth certificate. If a change needs to be made, the parents will have had to have made the changes prior to baptizing the child. We are not allowed to make any changes; the names will be registered as they are stated on the child’s birth certificate.
Parents and sponsors are required to attend a pre-baptismal class. In the event either is not able to attend the pre-baptismal class, they will have to make arrangements to attend at a later date or at another parish. IN any case, the baptism cannot be realized until both have fulfilled this requirement.
